IPL 2009 – How the teams stack up after the auction

Keeping the list to only key players of each team.

Royal Challengers
Kevin Pietersen, Jesse Ryder, Ross Taylor, Chanderpaul, Robin Uthappa, Kallis, Boucher, Dale Steyn, Bracken, Virat Kohli…..
Good Batting side.. Bowling department weak!

Chennai Super Kings
MS Dhoni, Flintoff, Albie Morkel, Jacob Oram, Hayden, Mike Hussey, Ntini, Muralitharan
Good balanced team with bowlers, all-rounders and batsmen led by Captain Cool.

Delhi Daredevils
Virender Sehwag, Gambhir, Ravi Bopara, David Warner, Owais Shah, Mahroof, Vettori, McGrath…
Strike Powerhouse with a decent bowling lineup

Deccan Chargers
Gilchrist, Symonds, Gibbs, Rohit Sharma, Dwayne Smith, Fidel Edwards, Rohit Sharma, Ojha….
Out of form batsmen league

Rajasthan Royals
Shane Warne, Graeme Smith, Shane Watson, Yusuf Pathan, Tyron Henderson, Shaun Tait, Ravindra Jadeja….
Underdog Performers

Kings XI Punjab
Yuvraj Singh, Sangakkara, James Hopes, Shaun Marsh, Luke Pomersbach, Simon Katich, Bopara, Irfan Pathan, Sreesanth…
Well composed team with good batsmen

Kolkata Knight Riders
Ganguly, McCullum, Gayle, Hodge, Ishant Sharma, Dave Hussey, Dinda, Ajanta Mendis
Predictably good team

Mumbai Indians
Sachin, Duimny, Jayasuriya, Luke Ronchi, Shaun Pollock, Abhishek Nayar, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan, Kyle Mills…
The fighters…

After re-looking at the team, I still feel the weakest team is still Deccan Chargers? What say?

Any guesses for the strongest and probable DLF-IPL 2009 winner?

  7. @ABHIJITH: Kyle Mills details corrected.

@DC: On paper the team looks good. However most of them are currently out of form.

  8. Royal Challengers bowling side is not weak at all… Bracken will always keep the runs down, Steyn will rip through any batting order in the world and Kallis is always very solid.

  9. The winners are definitely going to be Kolkata Knight Riders as they have a very good blend of players.

Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum – I think the best opening duo and if they fire 250 is achievable

Dada, Dave Hussey, Moises Henriques(Hard Hitter) and the likes of Shukla and Saha make up a fantastic middle order

Ishant Sharma, Masrafe Morataza and the local boy Ashoke Dinda(Star Performer in Domestics) share a decent bowling line.

All Rounders- Gayle, Dada, Hussey, Henriques, Mortaza and Agarkar
