The News Of The World reported at the weekend that Grandhi Mallikarjun Rao, the owner of Indian Premier League club Delhi Daredevils, had held talks over his interest in buying the Merseyside club. The newspaper claimed the talks were started by Liverpool’s co-owner Tom Hicks, and initially revolved around a sponsorship deal to help refinance a $723 million loan which helped Hicks and business partner George Gillett buy the club in February 2007.
