Deccan Chargers

Symonds hits and get hit

Symonds plundered the bowling attack of Rajasthan Royals scoring the fastest 100 in the Indian Premier League and taking the Deccan Chargers score to 214/5 in 20 overs after put into batting by Shane warne. Shane warne won the toss and elected to field. Symonds score stood at 117 ‘not out’ from just 53 balls. A good winning score by Deccan Chargers could not help them win the match.

Symonds had to bowl the last over in the second innings. Rajasthan Royals needed 17 runs of the last over and Symo couldn’t just get the honors in the last over. He got his own treatment from his country mate Shane Warne.

The last over read:

19.1 Symonds to Pankaj Singh, 2 runs
19.2 Symonds to Pankaj Singh, 1 run
19.3 Symonds to Warne, FOUR
19.4 Symonds to Warne, SIX
19.5 Symonds to Warne, SIX

Shane warne clinched the thriller and the final score of Rajasthan Royals etched at 217/7 winning the match by 3 wickets and 1 ball to spare. Deccan chargers loose their third consecutive match. Yusuf Pathan and Graeme smith pitched in with 61 and 71 respectively. Pathan scored the fastest 50 in IPL as Royals raced past 100 in 8.3 overs.

Andrew Symonds: “I’ve probably bowled the worst last over in Twenty20 history. Twenty20 is good for the game but not for the ego.”

VVS needs some serious thinking on how to manage such talented star power and charge up to victory in the rest of the matches.
