Wish List for IPL 2009 season

I am putting a wish list that I would like to see in the Indian Premier League 2009 season.

Dedicated slot
Indian Premier League to have a dedicated slot in ICC calendar so that the world’s best cricketers are available

Additional Franchises
There should be additional two more franchises which would take the total to 10. If all the international players are available then they need to be accommodated also.

5 International players per team
International players per team should be increased to 5 from the current limit of 4. This would give some flexibility for the teams to varied combination of batsmen and bowlers for a match. 5 International and 6 Indian players should be a good combination. Also it would enable all the international players to get a chance.

Best of three finals
Best of three finals between the top two teams of the league instead of the semi-finals and one finals.

Rest of the razzmatazz of cheer leaders, bollwood, music, fun, fireworks included in the IPL 2009 season.

  3. Best of 3 finals with semifinals. This would give four teams a chance to take a dig at the finals.

  5. bigger boundaries- at least 80 feet
    charge the captains if they bowl too slowly like in ODI
    home court advantage to team with best record like in NBA

  6. Can anybody tell me if the fixtures for the IPL 2009 have been decided? if not, when will they be? and if so, how do i get hold of them?

  8. I wish the league does not have a final at all. One bad day can take away all the efforts of consistent play by a team. It should be decided on points after all the home and away matches are played and that alone. T20 is any body’s match on any day. So why keep a final and not recognize consistency.

  10. 1. No final, like in the EPL the topper wins.

    2. Longer Boundaries.

    3. Probably change the restriction from 4 overs per bowler to 5.

  11. 1.We dont want final yaar !!!
    It should be like EPL or Best of three…
    2.DOnt increase the foreign players count which will affect the Indian domestic players a lot…
    3.yes,create a separate calendar and increase the no of teams to 10 so that we can accomadate the foreign players to an extent..
    4.We dont want cheerleaders,we love the game of cricket not the so cald cheer leaders

  14. Dear Shri Mallya,
    I have following points for your information.

    1. The game of cricket is always played on field, not on paper not at all on telivision
    2.Only one team can win whether it is test or ODI or T20
    3.Why were you silent at the start of the game ? Why are you making so much noice now when your team is on the other end of the points table

  15. I really think that there should be semi finals and finals but there should be a title for the league winners too.. Make it like an EPL title and a FA Cup title..
    League winner must be given importance.. Because thats the team which has played consistently well..

  17. Divide teams into two groups (less number of matches). Top 2 from each group goes through to the semis

    Best-of-3 semis and finals (top teams play at home in the semis)

  18. I believe we should have about 8 more franchisees. And a set up like that in football.

    We should have a second division too. and the winner of the second division makes it to the first division. and the one whos in the bottom of the table in division 1, goes back to division 2…. and comes back when it wins the division 2.

    + 3 finals like u have in the CB series. thats fun.
    coz 1 final does not make sense.

    I would really love to watch a GUJARAT franchisee.

    And i second most of u, when u say that it shud be accepted by ICC. Coz its bad when half of ur team leaves coz of national team commitments.

  19. i would like that in ipl insert some nabour teams like lahore karachi dhaka colombo etc bcoz lot of ipl craz exist in pakistan and srilanka and devide it in 2 groups

  21. Ya.this is great.Even i want the number of teams to increase from 8 to 10 or 12.New teams like Goa,Chandigarh,kerala,etc and the best of three finals will is really a great idea.

  22. According to Mr. Modi,IPL will have only 8 teams till first 3 seasons…….after that they can increase 1-2 teams every year and which leads to maximum of 12 teams……….

  23. ICON players for all the teams for sure. a couple of teams are getting advantage over others. no bowl. more suitable timings for coutries like UK, AUS etc, would be great

  25. There should be more teams.we can even include top t20 teams from other nations like top 3-5 teams from australia,england, south africa etc then we will have around 32 teams playing for da cup like UEFA Champions League

  26. more cheerleaders (and not the creepy looking ones from mumbai indians) best of 3 finals (everyone who says there should be no finals is an idiot, the best teams are those who can perform under the highest pressure) and 2 more franchises
    also there should be an all-star game like american sports where the best players from each team form 2 teams etc
