Rs 1.88cr Punjab bill for Wadia

There is a haze over the security arrangements for Wednesday’s match between the Rajasthan Royals and the King’s Xl Punjab after the Indian Premier League, on Tuesday, disputed a Rs 1.88 crore bill for personnel deployed by the Punjab police during earlier matches.

Police chief files complaint against Wadia

A senior Punjab Police officer on Sunday lodged a complaint against Kings XI Punjab co-owner Ness Wadia for allegedly publicly insulting and using derogatory language against him during Friday’s IPL match between the Punjab team and Deccan Chargers at PCA stadium at Mohali.

Marsh continues stellar IPL form

Big scores are becoming a habit for Shaun Marsh in the Indian Premier League, with the Western Australian smashing 60 off 46 balls to lead Punjab to a six-wicket win over Deccan overnight. Marsh and Kumar Sangakkara (50 off 25) put on 86 for the opening wicket as the Kings XI went on to record victory with three balls to spare.

It seems that the IPL has succeeded in developing city loyalties. After a thriller of a game between Mohali Kings XI and Mumbai Indians on Wednesday — which Kings XI won by just one run — Mohali captain, Yuvraj Singh took a pot-shot at the Mumbai crowd for being openly hostile towards his team.

Western Australian Shaun Marsh crashed 84 not out off 62 balls in his Indian Premier League debut overnight, powering Punjab to a seven-wicket thrashing of the Deccan Chargers. Marsh and Sri Lankan Mahela Jayawardene (45 not out) put on an 81-run unbeaten stand as the Kings XI ran down the 165-run victory target with ease in Hyderabad.

Coke scores over Pepsi with IPL Mohali team deal

The Cola battle is getting fuzzy. By signing up as sponsor for the Mohali Indian Premier League team Kings XI Punjab, Coca Cola can now use images of Pepsi’s pinch-hitter Yuvraj Singh. With the IPL Coca Cola has scored over Pepsi and is sponsoring the Mohali team. The deal gives Coca Cola the right to use visuals of the team, which includes Pepsi’s brand ambassador Yuvraj Singh.
