Yusuf Pathan broke the IPL’s first tie and with it Kolkata Knight Riders’ hearts through clean hitting in the Super Over, to chase down 16 runs in four deliveries. It was intense drama at Newlands with the match swinging either way – from the moment Rajasthan Royals lost two wickets in the first three overs, till Sourav Ganguly’s dismissal with two runs required and one ball to go – as the excitement spilled over into the Super Over, the solution to a Twenty20 tie.

TCS will provide expertise in information technology solutions to the Rajasthan Royals organisation, on and off the field, in an effort to enhance the efficiency of the organisation and help them retain their title as IPL champions in season two as well.

This marks a historic moment for the IPL as it is the first time that an IPL team has inducted a technology partner into the organisation to help the team stay on the championship track. Under the terms of the agreement, which was signed this week, TCS will be the technology partner of the Rajasthan Royals for an initial duration of three years.

They are renegotiating and trying to reduce the sponsorship fee or going for short-term commitments,” said Ranjit Barthakur, vice-chairman, Rajasthan Royals.

However, the defending champions Rajasthan Royals hopes to equal the number of sponsors they had in last season. “We had seven or eight sponsors last year. We would have the same number this year too. Being champions, we are getting premium as well,” Barthakur said without disclosing the likely revenue generated through sponsorships.
