Sachin seeks out an Aussie dasher

Not many folks even in cricket-crazy India would have heard of Dominic Thornely, but this cricketer who also does part-time work at a sports management agency in Sydney, was signed up by Sachin’s team after what was possibly the briefest of negotiations lasting just two hours.

Known for his aggressive batting which brought Thornely into the limelight for hitting eleven sixes in a first class innings, this six-foot plus right-hand batsman is also a handy medium pacer and spinner. So, was it that Sachin was trying to make up for Andrew Symonds loss to the Deccan Chargers! Or was it the idea of Harbhajan Singh who played alongside Thornely at Surrey in the English County cricket?
