They don’t call him King Khan for nothing. With each passing day it appears Shah Rukh Khan is outsmarting all other team owners in the IPL with a marketing blitz.
Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost,” Shah Rukh Khan began, as he explained why he was introducing his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders a second time in three days.
“I’m going to be the 12th man in this team. I have already promised the whole team that I will bring water for them,” the Bollywood superstar beamed at his side’s unveiling here on Thursday.
I’m very sure Vijay, Mukesh bhai, Ness — they all have great philosophies because they are all successful people in business. But I think, just as a role model, I may be able to give that extra to youngsters, because some of them must have grown up watching me on screen,” Shah Rukh notes.
And this doesn’t seem to be an empty boast. Already, some brands such as Belmonte that Shah Rukh endorses, are on board, and more are expected to follow.
Team owners refused to divulge exact figures of the revenue they are expecting to rake in. But sources have told CNN-IBN that Shah Rukh’s star power will ensure that the Kolkata Knight Riders will make a profit in the first year itself.
